SEARCH HINTS

Following are some suggestions and guidelines for getting the maximum benefit from the Parasite Collection search facility.

Browsers recommended for best appearance are Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, and other HTML 3.0 standard conformant browsers, in that order.

Screen resolution is best set at 800x600 pixels and the window maximized.

Search terms may be typed in lower case. That is, "east" finds both "East" and "least".

Narrowing the search can reduce or eliminate retrieval of records irrelevant to your interest. However, if the number found equals the supplied number for maximum allowable, you may wish to increase the limit in order to find out how many hits there are. For example, entering "Lichtenfels" as the identifier and no other terms, the limit (adjustable from 1 to 99,999) has to be set to more than 1140 in order to retrieve all of the hits to be viewed or printed.

Broadening the search by choosing appropriate fragments of a term can be useful for gathering related parasite data. For example, choosing "Nematoda" for parasite group and entering "trich" for parasite genus will retrieve records for ANATRICHOSOMA, TRICHINELLA, TRICHOCEPHALUS, TRICHURIS, TRICHOSOMA, and TRICHOSOMOIDES.
